The Societa de Unione e Beneficenza Italiana
is
believed to be the oldest continually operational Italian fraternal club in the
United States. It was founded in 1881 to care for sick members who were
unable to work and to pay for burial expenses when member families could not.

Today, the Italian Society is a social and philanthropic organization that works to preserve and enhance our rich Italian heritage and culture by promoting and providing social, recreational and educational programs in our community.
Annual Events: Two fall shrimp feeds, two winter crab feeds and the Annual Italian Picnic and Parade the weekend of the first Sunday in June.
Members meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Italian Picnic Park on Highway 49 in Sutter Creek.
The IBS has one of the largest scholarship donors in Amador County.
